What is the film Scream About?

The series centers on the character Ghostface who terrorizes the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, and its surrounding communities. The original film focused on Sidney Prescott and her friends as they are being stalked by a serial killer in their small town. Scream is a different type of horror movie because it openly mocks the entire genre of horror movies. It doesn’t rely on jump scares but instead uses great dialogue, interesting characters, and clever plot twists to scare its audience. The series has been praised for this as well as for being inventive within the genre by introducing new types of killers for each installment.

What fans are expecting from the upcoming installment?

The Scream series has long been a stand-out in the horror genre and its upcoming installment will have a lot to live up to. Fans are expecting a new type of Ghostface that is different from the others we’ve seen before. They also want to see some great characters and dialogue that are what made the original Scream so great. Lastly, they want to see how this new film fits into the franchise and if it will be able to live up to the hype of being another great addition to the series. Scream IV received an R rating from the MPAA for strong terror, violence, and language. While we don’t have any official ratings yet, Scream VI will likely follow suit. The series has long been known for its violence and occasional graphic language so fans shouldn’t be surprised by this.

What makes this film interesting?

The Scream universe has always been a dark and twisted one. The entire series has been known for its dark humor, witty dialogue, and the creative killers that haunt Woodsboro. Out of all the films in the series, this sixth installment will likely be focused on looking at the ghosts of characters we’ve come to know and love. This could mean that we will see past victims (Sidney Prescott etc.) or that we’ll be able to look at a new killer interestingly.

For fans that have followed this series for years, there’s a lot of promise here but it’s still very early to judge anything.

Who can watch this film?

Scream will be rated R by the MPAA for strong terror and language. This means that it’s not suitable for children, so teenagers and adults should watch this movie in theatres. This new installment may even draw back fans of Craven’s original who criticized the director’s last few installments which they felt strayed too far from the tone of the first three films.
