He wants revenge on Kirk, so he travels back in time to kill him. But it doesn’t work out as planned, which creates an alternate timeline. Also, another crew of the USS Enterprise must travel back through time to stop Nero and ensure that this new timeline remains intact.

Disheartening! Nyota Uhura’s Star Trek co-star Nichelle Nichols, who was 89 years old, passed away
Nyota Uhura, an assistant communications officer, who played a vital role in the Star Trek universe and was a central figure in pop culture, has died. She was 89 years old. Nichols passed away on Thursday night after an undisclosed illness. Nichols’ career lasted for over 50 years with appearances in dozens of movies and television series including Beauty and the Beast, The Manchurian Candidate, Roots, and more! Her death is a loss to Hollywood as well as regular people who just appreciate her work.
A few things that are worth noting: Uhura helped kick African-American men into the 21st century by being the first prominent black female character on a major TV series. Uhura was a pioneer and an inspiration to generations of women throughout Hollywood. She paved the way for more characters in television and film that were coded as white, had stereotypical hair, and spoke with a rough, lower-class Southern accent. While this may not seem like much, it was part of the mindset of the times and helped pave the way for today’s diverse cast on shows like Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, Empire, and many others.
