Reasons Michael Keaton’s Birdman Ought to Be His Last Batfilm

Birdman

It’s a sad day when Michael Keaton decides to put on the cowl again to play Batman. The movie is still half a year away from release but Keaton will certainly be 67 by the time. That makes him six years older than Mark Hamill was when he played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars and 30 years older than Christian Bale was when he played Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. The thought of an old and tired Bruce Wayne has many people wondering if this should be Michael Keaton’s final Batman story or not. Maybe it’s time to bring in a younger actor to take over the role and end the so-called ‘Clone Saga’.

As the director of “Birdman,” Alejandro Iárritu once told Emma Stone, “You’re ruining the movie.”

Throughout the production of Alejandro Iñárritu’s Oscar-winning drama, Birdman, Emma Stone was in the director’s ear. “He told me that I destroyed the movie,” said Stone in an interview with Marc Maron on his WTF podcast. “He sat me down and looked me in the eye and said ‘You, Emma, are responsible for destroying this movie.’” At first, she was worried she had done something wrong. But it turned out he had been paying attention to her acting technique from a distance — watching her from afar acting out various parts — and observed that it wasn’t like anything else he had seen before.
