Actors playing Prince William and Kate Middleton in Season 6 of The Crown

William and Kate Middleton in Season 6 of The Crown

Prince William and Kate Middleton will join the cast of The Crown for season 6 of the Netflix series, with their characters set to make an appearance in every episode. The royal couple will play themselves – exploring many different stages of their marriage, including the ups and downs of a long-term relationship. The first two episodes are set to focus on how they met, why they got married, and how they both dealt with the intense scrutiny after tying the knot. Their Royal Highnesses are getting ready to film the two-hour season premiere later this month. The series is the most expensive TV show in history and season 5 cost Netflix $130 million (£100 million) to make.

Introduction to The Crown’ Season 6

The Crown is a Netflix original series about the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II. It was created by Peter Morgan, Matthew Weiner, and even Steven Spielberg. So needless to say – it’s pretty good!

What makes this show so interesting? It retraces the coronation of Elizabeth II, explores her relationships with major historical figures like Winston Churchill, her father George VI, American President John F. Kennedy, etc., and ends with something many people find controversial: her passing of the throne to Prince Charles during what some call “the Sapphire Jubilee”.

In between those events are lengthy scenes depicting the background of major British politics during the 20th century. These scenes often involve Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip. During season 1, he was a Royal Navy captain in World War II. Then during season 2, he became a “prince of the realm” (ie: king).
