The Seventh And Final Season Of ‘Riverdale’ Stars Heading Back In Time

With Riverdale’s seventh and final season set to premiere in 2023, series creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa recently took to social media for a sneak peek at a character introduction for the upcoming season. Although it remains to be seen just how long our beloved gang will be trapped in the 50s, we can’t wait to see what kind of adventures await them during this final season of Riverdale! We’re also looking forward to seeing how some of our favorite characters’ storylines tie into one another. In his caption, Aguirre-Sacasa states that the characters will “make something truly special this year. We’re thrilled to see that Riverdale will continue to give us a glimpse into the past as each member of our “Archie” gang is introduced in the lead-up to season seven—but we’re also excited to see how some of the relationships listed in the caption will be played out. In the seventh season of the show, the core group of characters is headed back in time — not to a specific decade, but to a different timeline entirely. They are facing those classic adages about time travel: whether you’re going forward or going backward.

What is the series about?
Riverdale is an American teen drama television series based on the characters by Archie Comics. The show was created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and it premiered on The CW in January 2017. The series follows the lives of students at Riverdale High School, as they deal with angst issues such as love, friendship, children, family, and school life. The series focuses on Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa), who is a student of the school, and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), his childhood friend who is a new girl in town during her sophomore year. Courtney Campbell plays the role of their classmate Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) who is Archie’s girlfriend. The show’s first season deals with Archie’s investigation of the murder of Miss Grundy (Sarah Habel) after she made advances toward him. Archie becomes obsessed with her murder and his relationships become put in jeopardy. The second season deals with the death of Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines) and Betty Cooper’s attempt to solve the murder, while also dealing with her mother’s mental illness and her sister Polly’s (Tiera Skovbye) abusive relationship with a religious cult.
What fans are expecting from the final season?
The final season is speculated to have a very different tone compared to the first six seasons of the show. It is anticipated that the seventh season will be much darker than previous seasons. The themes are expected to involve murder, drugs, teenage pregnancy, and other dark subject matter that were previously limited in the series. It is believed that the seventh season will be a self-contained plotline, where the characters are not involved in any subplots from previous seasons. There is also speculation that season seven will involve time travel and deal with the consequences of changing the timeline. Riverdale season 7 will have a new period of the 1950s, which is speculated to be linked to Josie And The Pussycats band.
What makes this series exciting?
One of the most interesting things about Riverdale is the way it deals with issues that are relevant to the current times. It addresses topics such as homosexuality, sexual assault, drug abuse, and mental illness; it also continues to handle topics such as murder and gangs. The show also features many pop culture references, which appeal to millennials such as Veronica’s favorite band “The Archies” or Archie’s love for burgers from Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe.
