The Upcoming Black Comedy Thriller Film ‘Cocaine Bear’

Cocaine Bear from a screenplay by Allan Henry is an exciting and terrifying black comedy thriller film about a bear who is addicted to cocaine. Coky, a drug-addicted bear in the North Woods of Canada roams the forest looking for his next hit. While foraging for food, he chews on some discarded coca leaves and starts to feel an immediate need for more. After realizing that no one will sell him cocaine due to him being a bear and not a human, Ricky finds himself desperate and willing to do anything it takes to get his paws on some cocaine. Cocaine Bear is slated for release in 2023 in select theatres nationwide. The director of the film, Elizabeth Banks, says, “I think that all bear movies are scary but I think this one might be the scariest.” “Cokey” is a masterwork of CGI animation technology and a motion-rigged performance by Allan Henry. “Cokey’s” best friend in the movie also happens to be an alcoholic koala so they have an interesting dynamic as they embark on their journey to recovery.

What is the film about?  

The film is essentially about how a bear that is addicted to cocaine roams the woods of Canada looking for a fix and will do anything it takes to get his paws on the white stuff. He’s desperate and he’s willing to do anything it takes. So if you go into this film expecting a movie about a guy whose name is Cocaine Bear from Canada, then you are going to be disappointed. There aren’t many drug-addicted bears in the world, but luckily for audiences everywhere, there is at least one. This film turns into more of an adventure film when it becomes clear that Cocaine Bear needs help. So the film then becomes a sort of buddy-buddy movie. It becomes a “buddy cop” movie. So that is what this film is, it sort of turns into a “buddy cop” film in the second half as Ricky and Cokey go on their journey to recovery. 

What makes this film interesting? 

The film is an animated feature that has been all but filmed and is currently set up for release in 2023. The film features some of the best actors and directors, including the actor and director himself, Allan Henry.  This movie also has some of the most awesome effects you will ever see in a movie. It’s real, it’s animated and it’s going to blow your mind. The film is essentially about how a bear that is addicted to cocaine roams the woods of Canada looking for a fix and will do anything it takes to get his paws on the white stuff. He’s desperate and he’s willing to do anything it takes. This film turns into more of an adventure film when it becomes clear that Cocaine Bear needs help. 

Who can watch this film? 

This film is for all ages, but it mostly appeals to teenagers and young adults. The film is an animated feature that has been all but filmed and is currently set up for release in 2023. It’s not safe for younger audiences so don’t bring the kids. This movie is a little bit violent at times so it’s not suitable for younger audiences. I chose this movie because I thought it was a very funny and cool idea that would make a cool action/adventure/cult classic film, as well as maybe a good survival horror film. The bear with a cocaine addiction story seems like something we have never heard before.
