A new psychological horror film is coming out soon. Universal has partnered with Shyamalan to create a film titled “Knock at the Cabin” that will be released soon. It will be a two-part movie, which was recently described as “an apocalyptic psychological thriller.” Universal is also releasing another movie in this same genre called Old, which debuted in 2021. The films are being released under the Blinding Edge Pictures banner. This upcoming film stars Dave Bautista, who is most well-known for his role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The film is based on a novel of the same name. It’s about a family that travels up to their cabin for a weekend with some friends and ends up stuck there for a long time due to an apocalyptic event outside. The story was described as “a relentlessly compelling, tautly atmospheric thriller about lifelong friendship tested by a shocking revelation and marooned in deep snow. What is the film about?
The movie is not much more than its basic plot. The film is about a family that goes to their remote cabin with their friends, is cut off from the rest of the world, and then has to fend for themselves. They come up with a plan to try and survive, but it isn’t long after they decide on this plan that things start getting crazy at their cabin. Four men appear out of nowhere while they are taking in all the information about the disaster outside. The men demand that the family make an impossible choice to save them. It isn’t really clear if it was deliberate or not, but Universal has been releasing some well-done psychological horror films lately. Universal has also been working with M. Night Shyamalan to create this new genre of the horror film as well. The first film is called “Knock at the Cabin” and is already scheduled to be released next year on February 3, 2023.
What is interesting about the film?
There are a lot of different elements to this story that seems to make it very interesting for people. The premise of the film is about a family getting trapped in their cabin because of an apocalyptic event. The entire movie then becomes about them trying to survive. There are some spooky moments in the book that draw people in and make them want to read more to see how it all plays out.
Why is this different from other psychological horror films?
It’s not the only one of these films. The field has been quite dominated by the same type of scary movie over and over again. It’s kind of hard to remember what the most recent one was that was released because they all seem to be so similar. There are indeed some more out there, but they are a minority that is still left to stand out. There haven’t been very many at all. The advantage to this genre right now is that it seems different enough from everything else going on in movies right now.
Who can watch this film?
Anyone can watch this film. It is family-friendly and isn’t even too scary, so it could be the perfect movie for younger kids to watch with their parents. It may be a little scary for really small kids though.
