It’s been over twenty years since Robin Williams played Genie in Disney’s live-action film; yet its timeless messages about self-belief, friendship, and love are as poignant today as they were then. This friendly movie was adapted from one of our favorite books—a series of folk tales by Arabian author, “One Thousand and One Nights. The movie tackles important subjects such as the environment, racism, and gender inequality. Aladin and the Magic Lamp is a buddy comedy that pairs Robin Williams’ character against the blue Genie, played by the late. The film is based on an animated series of the same name that aired in 2019. Hollywood has never seen an animated series be turned into live-action before, so it’s interesting to see how they will handle the transition from animation to live-action.
