What is the series about?
This series, if you’re anything like me, will inspire you to travel. So without further ado, let’s dive into the series. The story follows Ginny and her mom Georgia (yes, she named her daughter after herself) as they run from a broken past in Georgia’s life and arrive in New England. The first season took place over a few months as they settled down into their new home and old town. Ginny has some teen issues to solve while dealing with her life issues. Georgia, as we all know, is the mother. And her son, Austin, has some issues of his own. This a premise that’s been done before in television, but the way the story unfolds makes it original. We see life from Ginny’s perspective and see Georgia and Austin from their perspective. With each episode, you get a little better understanding of what they’re dealing with on the personal front while running their lives as best they can.
What can we expect from season 2?
The first season is only 10 episodes long, but it’s certainly full of laughs and good times. And before the end of the season, you’ll get a great idea of what the future holds for Ginny, Georgia, and Austin. As always in television, we should expect a story arc to continue through to at least season 2 if not further. And given where season 1 left off, it’s safe to say that Ginny and her family are in for an interesting time this next season. Based on what has already been shown on Twitter about episode 1 of season 2 I’ve said many times that this show does everything as well as one could hope for with a comedy TV series.
Why should you watch this series?
If you’re looking for something different, and don’t mind leaving the comfort of Netflix Original Releases, then this series will be a unique experience. The show does everything it sets out to do, which is to make you laugh. The story might not be original in the sense that we’ve seen a protagonist in her late teens experiencing life for the first time and a mother trying to figure out what to do with her life and kids, but it’s done in such a way that’s funny while still being relatable. The show touches on some deeper topics including alcoholism, adultery, gay rights, and more.
Who can watch this series?
The show is rated TV-MA, but I’d still recommend it to the older members of your family. Given that the show is on Netflix we can probably expect some language and possible sexual content in season two if we’re lucky. But as long as you keep your young ones far away from that, you’ll be fine. The rest of it is pretty tame in comparison to most shows with a rating of TV-MA or higher, so it should be okay with most viewers over 18. I’ve seen a lot of people say they watched this with their children and laughed out loud at many moments.
