Marvel’s Upcoming Film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Director Teases The Emotional Ending

After two Guardians of the Galaxy films and three years of laughs, tears, and exhilarating space adventures, it’s time for Star-Lord’s crew to say goodbye. In a post on Twitter that confirms the Guardians will not be making any more movies after Vol. 3, James Gunn promises that this last adventure with the rag-tag bunch of cosmic outlaws will be a fitting finale to their story. The director revealed that filming is finished at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia but teased an emotional ending as he prepared to give up his beloved team of superheroes: “In the end Guardians, Vol 3 is about this completely irreplaceable group of idiots and how they’ve managed to live together for so long. I feel like the final film will be the last time people will see this team of Guardians.”  In his unique style, he introduced humor (a big part of Guardians’ appeal), broke out of genre tropes while still delivering solid fight scenes, and consistently set a high bar for established franchises to try to top.

The Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3 is scheduled to be released on the 5th of May 2023.

About the film Guardians of the Galaxy?

It has been amazing to watch these Marvel movies grow into such successful franchises that you can’t help but get attached. In 2014, we got the release the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie and it was a big hit. A big part of what makes these movies so great is thanks to Bradley Cooper’s performance as Rocket Raccoon, who made his debut in GOTG Vol. 1  But now for our third installment in this series about Star-Lord, we may be getting a deep look into something not many people are interested in – emotional storytelling. I am looking forward to Volume 3 with a big fan of these movies. That takes us to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where we see our heroes return once again at the beginning of this film. And yes I will be honest, I fear for their lives and especially Star-Lord, who has nearly died many times.

What fans are expecting from the upcoming film?

In this movie, we are getting a chance to see the emotional connection of Star-Lord, who has been wrapped up in his issues. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 we saw him as an orphan on Earth and now as a man with his problems. I love how these movies are showing us more about our heroes as characters and more about their relationships. Peter Quill is still directionless after the death of Gamora and Rocket trying to keep his team together and knowing what to do next. 

What makes this film exciting?

This film gives us a much deeper look into the relationship between the Guardians of the Galaxy. We have not seen them work together as a team that often and mostly when it is for a fight or to save the world. I am excited to see how they interact with each other in this film and what decisions our new villain, Thanos’ Son will make. It should be an exciting showdown in space that is inevitably ending in death.
