The recent news that Alison Schapker, co-showrunner on the upcoming sci-fi series “Dune: The Sisterhood” Ademu-John is stepping down from her role as co-showrunner has caused quite a stir amongst fans of the show. A few of the show’s fans have taken to Google Groups with anger and accusations against Ademu-John, the show’s executive producer, accusing her of “causing disruption” and “not paying attention to the show”. The show, which stars Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson, and Indira Varma, is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic series of novels. “Dune: The Sisterhood” takes place thousands of years before the events in the original Dune novels and focuses on Dune’s women leaders. The Dune novels are considered landmarks in modern science fiction and the series has been translated into dozens of languages. The show is set ten millennia in the past and follows the Harkonnen sisters, Lady Valya and Lady Tula, as they battle forces that threaten the future of humankind.

Who is in the cast?

  • Emily Watson will be as Valya Harkonnen
  • Shirley Henderson will be as Tula Harkonnen

  • Sarah-Sofie Boussnina will be as Princess Ynez
  • Shalom Brune Franklin will be as Mikaela

Release Date:

No confirmed release date has been announced yet. It is expected to be released sometime in 2023.

What is the series about?

The series’ pilot is an adaptation of the first book in Frank Herbert’s Dune series (Dune). On the series’ official website, it states the series takes place “Ten thousand years in the future”. This means that this series is the first time that future viewers can see how the Bene Harkonnen sisters established their Order in a galaxy ruled by men. It also preserves a tradition that Herbert himself introduced into his novels. In the original Dune, it states that the Bene Gesserit were established “long before” the events of the book. When this series was first announced, many were surprised that Sci-Fi had decided to adapt a story from Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novels. However, this is not an entirely new concept for the channel.

Why should you watch this series?

The series is a groundbreaking example of how new technologies (in this case television and the internet) can be used to promote old ideas. When this show was first made, CGI was a new form of animation but it has since become commonplace. Audiences today expect shows that include other forms of media such as computer-generated animation and full-length movies, as well as traditional television shows. In some ways, “Dune: The Sisterhood” will be an experiment on how far the channel can go with futuristic shows.

Why should I watch this series?

This is a great series to watch if you have watched other sci-fi television shows and you are looking for something different. The series will be an excellent way to start or continue your love of sci-fi. “Dune: The Sisterhood” is a landmark series in Sci-Fi and could have something for everyone.
