He has been overeating since then to deal with the pain and now weighs over 600 pounds.  He tries to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter in hopes that it will help him deal with her death but instead ends up causing more damage than good as he pushes her away too.

What makes this film interesting?

The film was first presented at the Venice Film Festival, where it generated a lot of buzzes. The story of a 600-pound man trying to reconnect with his daughter (Carla Gugino) and his life, in general, is very relatable and doesn’t necessarily glorify the lifestyle or make it look good.  It has plenty of funny moments, especially from Brendan Fraser, who was surprisingly very funny in this movie. We do see little character development from Fraser’s character Charlie, but that is bound to happen if the storyline would be around a mostly static character such as Charlie.  The scenery in this movie looks amazing and so does everything else associated with this film.

Why should I watch this film?

If you are looking for a movie that has great visuals and is heart-warming, then this is the movie you should watch. It is based on a play but it is shot differently from a play and there is character development thankfully. Its plotline might be very off-putting for some people, but it does have comedy which makes it much more tolerable.

Is it worth watching?

If you are okay with a movie that makes no sense whatsoever, then this is your flick. The movie stands alone from other similar films due to its visuals and comedy. It had great reviews from critics as well as a cult following which made me want to see the film even more than I already did.
