In 2006, Christopher Tolkien published an abridged version of The Silmarillion as part of his 50th-anniversary edition of The Lord of the Rings; it ran 51 chapters compared to over 300 in the full version. Tolkien’s son Christopher has been the target of harsh criticism for editing his father’s unfinished works. In our modern times, many books are available in audio CD format that gives people an opportunity to enjoy a good story while driving or cleaning their house. One such audiobook version is The Silmarillion which is narrated by Andy Serkis.
