‘Dead to Me’ Is Coming Back On Netflix With Season 3

Netflix’s cult-hit Dead to Me is heading back for one more season. In the final season, which comes out on November 17th, 2022, Jen (played by Christina Applegate) and Judy (played by Linda Cardellini) are still getting used to life after her death. But when they start to receive a series of weird packages and presents, the past meets with the present in dangerous new ways. The new season will be directed by Liz Feldman (who is currently an executive producer on the series) in her first production as a Netflix original, Dead to Me has been averaging more than 3 million viewers per episode on Netflix. So far, the series has garnered over 30 million viewers worldwide since its 2019 debut. “Our intention for season 3 has always been to wrap up this story in the best and most satisfying way possible for our young family of viewers,” said Feldman in a statement. “I am so grateful to Netflix, our partners at Gaumont Television, and to Jen, Judy, and Jerry for helping us bring this story home.”

What is the series about?

Created by Liz Feldman and starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, Dead to Me is a dark comedy about a powerful friendship that blossoms between a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret. Jen (Applegate ) is a Los Angeles mother of two who becomes obsessed with finding out who killed her husband. Her quest for answers leads her to an unlikely relationship with Judy (Cardellini), an out-of-work pharmaceutical rep who lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband (James Marsden). Even though they lead completely different lives, the two find that their love of dark humor, alcohol, and drugs has created an unexpected bond. The new season will be directed by Liz Feldman (who is currently an executive producer on the series) in her first production as a Netflix original. Feldman, who also directed the first two seasons of the show, tells us she wants to keep things dark and twisted.

What to expect from season 3?

 In an interview with Media Republic on Tuesday, Feldman said that the final season of Dead to Me will be a lot more “out there” than previous seasons. Speaking about the show’s third and final season, Feldman said that the show will be “a little bit darker.” While she didn’t want to reveal too much about the upcoming episodes, Feldman hinted at a darker tone and a few surprise cast members. 

What are the reviews?

 Dead to Me has been getting rave reviews since its premiere. The LA Times praised the show’s “bizarrely effective, super-dark and ultimately wickedly funny” tone and said that it “has an eerie sort of edge to it.” The Huffington Post called the show “insanely hilarious.” Dead to Me already has an 89% “fresh” rating from Rotten Tomatoes, based on 50 reviews. The site’s critical consensus reads, “Witty and charming yet also biting and cynical, Dead to Me offers an amusingly fresh spin on the traditional dark comedy.”
