What is the show based upon?
One Of the members of the company named Mark leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their job. With each episode, the story grows and changes into something much different than what was originally anticipated, and watching as all of our impressions shift in this way is fascinating to watch. It quickly becomes very clear in Episode 3 that something is going on which will have serious consequences for everyone involved, but it’s still unclear exactly what those consequences are…until the final episode where everything falls into place.

What makes this series interesting to watch?
This series, like many in the psychological thriller genre, makes use of very interesting plot twists. The rules for the world of Severance are not revealed all at once, and there are frequent flashbacks to fill in important gaps in the story. This gives a similar feel to shows like Lost, with the constant dropping of clues leading us closer to figuring out what is going on. At one point in the series, it becomes clear that some or all of what we thought we knew was incorrect, but you’ll have to watch it to find out just how much changes.
What do critics say about this series?
This series has received strong reviews from most critics. Although some complained that the show is confusing, they ultimately found it to be a highly satisfying experience, presumably because of its many plot twists and turns. With the first season of this series currently running, it’s a great time for those interested in psychology and the human mind to check this out.
What does the creator say about this series?
The creator of this series, Dan Erickson, said in an interview with Bowtie Media: “This story is about memory but also about perception and what we remember after we close our eyes for the night. It’s about secrets unfolding through intense personal conflicts, be it family or bosses or a feeling of existential menace.
