Paramount+ Has Shown Green Light To ‘Frasier’ Reboot

Paramount+ Has Shown Green Light To ‘Frasier’ Reboot

In the last few weeks, Paramount released a statement announcing that they have green-lit the production of a reboot of their hit TV show ‘Frasier’. After an extensive period of development following its cancellation in 2004, it has now been confirmed that Frasier will be heading back to television screens for the first time in over half a decade. However, unlike most reboots and revivals, this comeback will not see either Clive Owen or Hugh Laurie returning as regulars alongside Grammer who is set to reprise his role as Dr. Frasier Crane. Instead, the series’ original ensemble of stars will be returning to reprise their roles for the reboot. This includes John Mahoney who played Frasier’s dad Martin, Jane Leeves as Daphne’s wife Niles, Peri Gilpin playing Roz on the show, and Kelsey Grammer himself hosting an episode. But it appears that even with a new leading man in front of a new audience, Paramount understands that all too well-loved parts of the original series may need to be tweaked or even changed if they are going to succeed.

Things To Know About ‘Frasier’ Reboot:

According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has now clarified that they will not be looking to make any drastic changes to fit the reboot within the context of today’s society. Instead, they will be drawing inspiration from the initial show and all its associated developments. As a result, the rebooted ‘Frasier’ will follow the titular character taking his radio show to a TV station in Seattle and adjusting to life on the West Coast with his father.  But to facilitate john’s transition into television once more, Paramount is looking for a new leading man for ‘Martin Crane’ after John Mahoney passed away back in 2018. it was reported that they will honor his legacy by rebooting the show minus any of the other original cast members.“ His loss is and was devastating and must be given the proper attention in honor of the extraordinary man he was and the contribution he made to the show and the acting profession,” Grammer said

The sitcom first aired in 1993 for 11 seasons and 197 episodes. It starred Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane, a psychiatrist who was based in his hometown of Seattle. The show revolves around his pompous radio show and the troubles he often finds himself in with family, friends, work colleagues, and his brother Niles, who is also a psychiatrist. The show followed their adventures while they visited the Cheers bar in Boston (the sitcom on which Frasier and Niles were based) on occasion. Other notable characters on the show include Daphne Moon played by Jane Leeves, Roz Doyle played by Peri Gilpin and Martin Crane played by John Mahoney.

What is the audience’s reaction to the reboot?

The reboot is currently in the works and has garnered huge media attention from both fans and critics alike. However, many have expressed concern about the project being ‘ruined’ by these developments and the potential loss of Mahoney’s presence which was often cited as a reason for the show’s success. However, reviewers, fans, and critics alike have also remarked that Grammer and Leeves are more than capable of playing their characters with their original passion.
