Infinity Pool is an upcoming sci-fi horror film directed by Brandon Cronenberg that has been rated NC-17 by the MPAA due to graphic violence and sexual content. The NC-17 rating is the first ever to be awarded to a mainstream horror film in the United States. It’s also expected to debut on iTunes and other digital platforms without any edits being made. The MPA hasn’t seen anything quite like it before, but as long as it does well enough at the box office, this rating might not be an indication of just how intense this movie will be for viewers. The MPAA has decided to give the film an NC-17 rating for graphic violence and sexual content. You can view the actual guidelines that have been brought up in this ruling here. “Infinity Pool stars Pearl star Mia Goth and Alexander Skarsgård.” “The film is a body horror feature that has Cronenberg making more of a comeback than he’s ever had a chance to with some of his most traumatic, yet visually stunning and disturbing work.”
- Alexander Skarsgård as James Foster
- Mia Goth as Em Foster
- Thomas Kretschmann
- Amanda Brugel
- Caroline Boulton
- John Ralston
- Jeff Ricketts
- Jalil Lespert
- Roderick Hill
No exact date has been announced yet. As per the last interview, Cronenberg said he is excited to make it as soon as possible.
What is the film about?
The plot of Infinity Pool follows a young couple who decide that it would be a great idea to go on vacation in the Dominican Republic. The beach seemed perfect for a relaxing getaway. The couple wanted to spend their time in the “Infinity Pool” with the beautiful scenery around them, but they soon discover something much more dangerous outside of their hotel gates. The resort in which they stayed was the site of a real-life murder as well. The film is sure to provide plenty of thrills and chills for viewers who enjoy horror films, but it will also be an interesting commentary on the class system that exists around the world. It also mentions that the film has some intense violence, graphic sexual content, and nudity.
Who is the director?
Brandon Cronenberg is the one responsible for directing this upcoming sci-fi horror. He has directed four previous films, including A Dangerous Method and also Crime OF the Feature. He has been around in the industry for nearly two decades. He’s worked on a wide array of projects, and it is easy to see what a brilliant filmmaker he is. Brandon Cronenberg, Noah Segal, Andrew Cividino, and Christina Piovesan, will serve as producers.
Why should I watch this film?
This movie has an interesting plot and will keep viewers on the edge of their seats while they’re watching. There is violence, sexual content, and nudity in this film so it is not for children. It’s understandable why the MPAA would give Infinity Pool an NC-17 rating due to its adult content. The content that the MPAA found most problematic was listed as intense violence, graphic sexual content, and nudity.
