‘Freaky’ Director Shows His Anger Against Day and Date Release

A rant against how film releases are being handled these days. So many recent films are releasing with Day and Date releases, which makes it impossible for audiences anywhere else in the world who might want to see them to get a chance to see them. This frustrates filmmakers like Christopher Landon, director of Freaky, who need audiences for their films in order for things to work. His frustration goes into how studios are gambling with filmmakers and their projects, which of course leads nowhere good. He just tweeted that he doesn’t like the idea of the day and date release strategy for the film Halloween Ends. He expressed that he is frustrated with how many recent films are releasing with this day and date release strategy, which makes it impossible for audiences anywhere else in the world who might want to see them to get a chance to see them. So he knows filmmakers need their worldwide audiences in order for their films to succeed.  He also told how he got destroyed when the same thing happened with his film Freaky.

About the film Freaky:

The film is a suspenseful horror-thriller that tells the story of four teenagers celebrating their graduation at an isolated mansion, who pay dearly for the thrill. The Butcher, a serial killer who has eluded capture and been declared dead by the FBI – breaks into their home and introduces them to his world of torture, mutilation and savage murder. But at this moment in time, a deranged serial killer swaps bodies with a young girl named Diane, and she soon realises that she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent. She must now fight for her life and those of her friends while also keeping her sanity. Meanwhile, the Butcher is still on the prowl. The game is on to save themselves from his obsession with blood sacrifice and create a new life before it’s too late. They must try to make sense of what’s going on while also trying to escape one body snatched by another.

Why Should I Watch this film?

The movie is really great! Horror fans should really watch this. First of all, it is creepy beyond measure. The way the butcher looked made him invulnerable, which makes the movie more thrilling since it became a cat and mouse game where there is no clear-cut winner (or loser). The movie has gore but only the amount needed to make you cringe. There are scary moments in the film but not too many jump scares.

What makes this film different from other films of this type?

While it is similar in plot to other films such as “Freaky Friday”, the fact that it’s based on an urban legend gives the film a much more interesting edge over similar films and helps keep the viewer interested throughout. The soundtrack is also very good and certain scenes utilise music to help build suspense and tension which give the film a more unique feel.
