‘Blue Hawaii’ A Comedy Film From 1960s Getting 4K Ultra HD Release

Blue Hawaii is a classic comedy film from the 1960s, released in 1961 by Paramount Pictures. The film follows Chad Gates, a recently discharged soldier who returns to his home in Hawaii with his girlfriend and mother. This November, Blue Hawaii will be getting its first ever 4K Ultra HD releases for not only the Archived Classic releases line but also for the Paramount Presents line. It has also been announced that all future 4K Ultra HD releases in the Paramount Present line will be 4K Ultra HD remastered editions. The aim of this is to bring back classic films from the 60s and 70s, which have long since been out of print to a new, modern audience. The film was originally cut for theatrical release by Paramount Pictures, but presenter Jack Lemmon convinced them to release it as an extended television version. The film includes several locations in Hawaii and later became a sequel to the 1961 Paramount production South Sea Woman. It was filmed on location in the Hawaiian islands of Maui, Oahu, and Kauai.
