‘Harry Potter’ The Big Giant Hagrid Is No More

Robbie Coltrane, who played the beloved character of Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter series and was 51 years old when he started in his role in 2001, has died. He was a caring and deeply compassionate person,” Emma Watson said. “I am sad to lose him but delighted that I got to spend my life with you.” A tribute from Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed Harry Potter since 2001, read: “The world will be a lesser place without Robbie Coltrane’s big heart.”  Robbie Coltrane died aged 72 on Friday. Soon after his death was announced, there was an outpouring of tributes on social media. A kind giant called Hagrid finds Harry Potter on his doorstep but has a secret past.

Who is Hagrid?

 

Hagrid, who was first introduced in the book series in 1995, was a caretaker when Harry and his friends were on their quest to find Horcruxes. He was portrayed by Robbie Coltrane. He has a rather large nose and is also known as “The Big Hagrid.” In 2001, he appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as well as in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) where he helped lead Harry away from Dementors. After that, Hagrid disappeared for 7 years with little information about what happened to him.

The second film was directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the third by Mike Newell, the fourth by David Yates, the fifth by Alfonso Cuarón, and lastly, the sixth and final series was again directed by Chris Columbus. The series ended in 2011 when all the books were finished.

This film shows us that it’s better to show you, love than being judged by people who don’t understand you. The main message of this film is that you should never give up when people are still being mean to you; instead, you must stand up for what’s right even if it means losing some friends or loved ones in the process.
