One of the best new films I’ve seen in a while, Three Thousand Years of Longing is worth watching as it promises a lot toward telling an exciting story that you won’t forget. This film features complex characters, beautiful visuals, and an interesting plot. The stakes will always be high because this film is full of fantasy and romance”. Three Thousand Years of Longing tells the story of Alithea through her narration, with Alithea’s narration being framed by her narrative. Through this framing, we get to see not only what she is going through individually but also how she has influenced this fantastical world around her. Tilda Swinton’s performance as Alithea is excellent and the camera focuses on her often. Swinton allows us to see Alithea’s happiness, her triumphs, and even her downfall. The way the film is set up is because the story is being told by Alithea there are different ways in which we can perceive this world that she has been transported to. The film also has a fantastic soundtrack that helps you feel like you are going through this journey with Alithea.
