The town of Easttown is small, but its murder rate is anything but. Detective Marianne Sheehan has been assigned to new cases with the catch all title of “Mare Of The Easttown.” There’s some thought that she’s the only one who can handle these tough cases, but will she be able to solve them before her personal life falls apart? “Easttown” centres on Detective Marianne Sheehan, who starts her career in a small town police department. She’s a by-the-book cop, who’s loyal to her colleagues, especially Chief Frank, and loyal to the world around her. But no matter how hard she tries to pay attention to the rules and stay straight, she can’t help but get involved with the people around her. Her son has come back from Iraq with a head wound that has changed his personality, her husband is having an affair with his former student and she will be teamed up with a new officer whose views don’t match hers.

What is the series about?
“Easttown” is a drama mystery series that tells the story of a homicide detective who is an outsider in a small town. The characters are everyone you know and love, their foibles and their flaws, but they’re also very human. The series focuses on a town’s murder. “Easttown” is not a cop show, it’s not a crime show, it’s not a legal drama and it’s not an action show. It’s simply a small town murder mystery series. The early episodes will lean towards the police investigation aspect of the series and have some action elements, but all of that is designed to support the case-of-the-week format of “Easttown” what happens when you have one murder case that really gets under Marianne Sheehan’ skin? This series is about her search for answers in a department that doesn’t always want to give them to her.
Who should watch this series?
“Easttown” might not be for everyone, but it’s for a large audience that hasn’t been served yet. We’re aiming at a wide audience of women, not just women who like cop shows but women who like good writing. This show is a mix of pop culture references that play with the viewer’s imagination, a sense of humour and some real emotion. It’s not simply entertainment, it’s a story that needs to be told, we hope you’ll come along for the ride.
What makes this show interesting?
This is a show about an outsider, one of the most popular characters on TV. It’s a show about a woman who has been hurt and is trying her best to make it work, but she just can’t seem to get out of her own way. Marianne Sheehan was the golden girl, the only woman on the force and she had everything going for her. Then she turns around and catches her husband cheating on her and all of a sudden, he’s turned into this other person that she doesn’t recognize. Now it seems like every time she starts to get herself back together, something knocks her down again and we haven’t even gotten to the murder yet.
