Premier Date Set For The New Series ‘Let the Right One In’ Consist Of Drama And Horror By Showtime

Many readers will have seen the film adaptations of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel Let the Right One In, which is 2008 and 2010 gave him a global following. The story, set in 1979 and based on a Swedish film he wrote the screenplay for back in 2008, follows a 12-year-old boy who befriends his new neighbor Abby. But while Abby seems to be just like any other little girl her age–she’s sensitive and curious about life–there is one peculiar difference: she’s a centuries-old vampire. Similarly, this series also follows a 12-year-old girl who turns into a vampire and lives with her father. With the Showtime series, Lindqvist has taken the basic concept of his novel and adapted it into something that’s both modern and traditional at the same time. It’s more of a throwback to a more classic horror film type of story, but also something much more grounded as well. The company has now announced that it is premiering its new series, Let the Right One In on October 9, 2022, on Showtime.

What is the series based upon?
To understand the full scope of Let the Right One In, you must have some background information. The story is about Mark and his daughter Ellie, who was attacked and turned into a vampire at 12. She has remained in that state ever since, having to live on human blood while her father tries to find a cure. After their family home was destroyed by fire, they moved back to New York City in hopes of finding someone who may be able to help Ellie. From what I have gathered, the series will follow the adventures of Ellie and her father as they attempt to find a cure. They may also find someone else who may be able to help turn Ellie back into a human. There is no word on whether or not there may be any romance between either character, but if that is the case I would assume that it would play out differently than any other vampire story.
What makes this series different from others?
Let the Right One In is a drama series, which focuses on the father-daughter relationship between Mark and Ellie. As an American remake, it does offer a new take on the original film trilogy. What makes this series different is that it will be told from the perspective of Ellie. Most vampire movies and dramas follow an individual as they pursue their prey or try to survive living in a human world. We do not get to know what they are thinking or how they are reacting to new situations throughout the story.
Who should watch this?
If you are a fan of vampire movies and dramas, then you will want to check this out, as it does look very intriguing. If anything it will be nice to see a different perspective of what it is like to live as a vampire. The show would be recommended for ages 16 and up due to the use of adult language and some violence.
