The Banshees of Inisherin and the Films of Martin McDonagh
Martin McDonagh is an Irish playwright, director, and actor from London. One of his most famous plays is “The Cripple of Innishman”. His first feature film was “In Bruges”. It’s about two hitmen who are hiding out in the charming Belgian city of Bruges after committing a messy job in England. They’re trying to find some peace from their bloody pasts. But it is hotly pursued by the equally-desperate mafia while they’re surrounded by apathetic locals.
It is based on a book by the same writer: “In Bruges”. It’s about two hitmen who are hiding out in the charming Belgian city of Bruges after committing a messy job in England. They’re trying to find some peace from their bloody pasts. But it is hotly pursued by the equally-desperate mafia while they’re surrounded by apathetic locals. This is classic humor of how people react in different situations and styles. Martin McDonagh had this in mind when he was writing his other movies: “Calvary”, “The Guard”, “Seven Psychopaths”, and “Brooklyn”.
