After the success of its first season, ‘Yellowjackets’ has enlisted actress Simone Kessell in a lead role for the upcoming season. The Netflix original series is executive-produced by Eric and Leila Murphy (co-creators of Jane The Virgin) and stars Emmy Award-winning actress Viola Davis. The show follows Yale Law student Jake Gregorian as he takes on a high-profile case defending an artist accused of murdering his rugby star lover. When all evidence points to the suspect’s innocence, Gregorian is drawn into a world of secrets and lies where nothing is what it seems.

Where it won the Outstanding Film Award. ‘Yellowjackets’ is co-produced by Brian Koppel man and David Levien of Concourse Media, who also created and executive produced ‘Olive Forever’. Koppel man and Levien also serve as executive producers for Kessell, Murphy, and Davis. The series is being developed for Netflix under their newly formed company, Kessell Media Group.

The Theory of Everything stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, playing Alice, a young university student who was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 24. She also starred as Lady Crane in last year’s hit fantasy series Game Of Thrones. The multi-talented Priyanka Chopra-lookalike will appear in Ben Affleck’s upcoming action-thriller Live By Night.
In Upcoming Months, Kessell Debuts Playing Detective Anna Schafer,
A talented yet embattled female NYPD detective who must navigate the powers that be and solve herself. She also guests stars in a recurring role as Gina, a well-connected cocktail waitress at a run-down strip club. The series is created and executive produced by Liz Brixius (Nurse Jackie, Orange Is The New Black) and Linda Wallem (Nurse Jackie, Four Weddings And A Funeral).
‘Yellowjackets’ Is Written By Eric And Leila Murphy.
The pilot was directed by Mark Pellington (Arlington Road, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) with additional episodes directed by Alex Graves (Game of Thrones), Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment, In The Shadow Of The Moon), Bharat Nalluri (The White Princess) among others. Season two will consist of eight episodes. Production on season two has begun in New York.

Kessell will play Cecilia Hayes, a fellow Yale Law student and the model for the character of Claire Winters in ‘Yellowjackets.’ In this role, Kessell will be joined by an ensemble cast that also includes Zoe Kazan (Aquarius), Adam Driver (Blindspot), and Tony Award-winner Kaitlyn Dever (Ana Maria Antoinette), and Emmy Award-nominee Jon Lovett (The Daily Show).
The Other Six Shows Stream Exclusively On Netflix Over The Internet
“Yellowjackets” will be one of the six shows Netflix announced it would be adding to its streaming service this year, alongside “The Romanoffs,” “Dancing Queen,” “Flaked,” “Disjointed,” and “One Day at a Time.” The other six shows stream exclusively on Netflix over the Internet, though they can be watched in any order on Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV devices. The six new shows will join the approximately 130 titles Netflix has available to stream in the U.S., nearly 300 in all.
