Last week, Variety reported that director Tim Miller’s Terminator reboot had been put on hold by Paramount Pictures. Miller decided to stop development after he realized that his take on the franchise was “incredibly ambitious.” Miller also revealed that he has not given up hope and is instead waiting for a time when he can be more hands-on with the project. He said, “I’ve learned that now is not the time to be as involved as I would like.” Variety mentions that the first draft of a script from David Goyer and then Ashley Miller-Piper was well received by the studio so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Tim Miller believes the less expensive “Terminator” film might be a huge hit

In an interview with the LA Times, Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool and Deadpool 2, spoke about how the low-budget Terminator movie he is currently working on could be a huge success. There’s just so much more to do,” he said. “I was trying to put a story together that would support what they were going to ask me for in visual effects. And it kind of worked.” According to Miller, his current budget for the Terminator movie is $50 million — but this could end up being more like $15 million due to all of the international sales that the film has already received.
