Animated Pilot Reimagines the Classic Series “Golden Girls 3033”

“Golden Girls 3033” is a new animated pilot that imagines what the series would look like in the year 3033. The 14-minute pilot is set in a futuristic retirement home, where we see Golden Girl’s still up to no good and living with their robot housekeeper, Dorothy-3000., The cartoon also features holographic TVs and “hologram pets,” which are robotic animals that live at the home with their respective owners. It’s not easy being old—but hey, it could be worse! If anyone is nostalgic for 1985, 1985 VFX artists Bryan Konietzko and Lynn Wang have you covered with this beautifully rendered fan film.

Introduction to The Golden Girls 3033

The show starred Betty White as Dorothy Zbornak, and Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux. Also, Bea Arthur as Rose Nylund, and Estelle Getty as Sophia Petrillo. In the final season of the show’s 8-year run on NBC (1991-1992). Likewise, there was a special made that marked the 30th anniversary of the series premiere. Similarly, in this retrospective special, Elaine Stritch who played Aunt Flo moved into Rose Nylund’s apartment with her two dachshunds, Frasier and Mitzi. In the special Elaine Stritch mentions this series and says, “Do you miss it? I miss it. It’s like an old friend – there’s never a day that goes by when I don’t think of Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia.”

Bojack Horseman will reimagine The Golden Girls in a sci-fi setting

Horseman and the upcoming Golden Girls reboot. As you know, Bojack Horseman is a Netflix series that has been getting rave reviews and has been renewed for three more seasons. The series is written and produced by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, who also created The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He’s considered one of the most creative TV writers in Hollywood today. Now, let’s move on to the reboot of Golden Girls! Ellen DeGeneres (Ellen with her long-time co-star Portia de Rossi), Phylicia Rashad (of Cosby Show fame), Betty White (the OG Mrs. Golden Girls), and Bea Arthur (Maude from All in the Family) and Rue McClanahan (of Maude, The Golden Girls). These ladies are all very popular, and iconic. Also, talented actresses have been in the entertainment industry for a long time.

All of them are super busy with their careers right now, but they want to team up to do this Golden Girls reboot series. It’s understandable why they’re interested in doing this reboot series. Most of these ladies have been powerful females on our small screen and they can still hold their own while working together.

The storyline of The Golden Girls 3033

What would happen if Rose, Dorothy, Blanche, and Sophia were still alive in the present day? This fanciful thought is the starting point for The Golden Girls 3033. In this series, Rose has begun to report on the events happening in Milwaukee for a local newspaper. Dorothy is living with her granddaughter and teaching high school part-time. Blanche has changed her identity and joined a retirement village where she’s trying to convince herself. Also, she’s happy now that she’s all alone (though we know better). And Sophia finally feels like an old woman who can’t do anything right after being told by doctors that she has early-onset Alzheimer’s.

‘BoJack’ Director’s Animated Pilot Sends ‘The Golden Girls’ to the Future with ‘Golden Girls 3033’

BoJack, the 2008 feature-length film from director and writer Raphael Bob-Waksberg and executive producer Noel Bright, was a ground-breaking project for Netflix. Bob-Waksberg made a name for himself with his acclaimed animated show on the streaming service, ‘Bojack Horseman’. The show is known for its biting satire of Hollywood culture and celebrity worship in this strange future where humans who look like horses coexist with other animals. Golden Girls 3033 is an animated pilot that reunites many of these same creative talents within this new animated series inspired by ABC’s ‘Golden Girls’.
