The storyline of The Becoming Elizabeth
The Becoming Elizabeth tells the story of a young woman, Elisabeth, struggling to find her place in a world dominated by men. Set in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the novel speaks to society’s misogynistic attitude towards women during this period. Moral individuals will be sure to appreciate that there is more than one way for people to react when faced with adversity.
Costume department in #BecomingElizabeth created wonderful dresses. It's so nice to watch a Tudor drama where the costumes & sets are so meticulously reconstructed based on what we know.

In this novel, Elizabeth seeks a career in accounting. While she is extremely talented and intelligent, she is also a woman. People deem her unfit for any sort of career, let alone one where math and numbers are the focal points. She perseveres through harassment and discrimination to achieve her life’s goal. The fact that she is the only female to ever hold a position of power at her company makes the story even more inspiring.
A Princess’s Rebellious Early Days in “Becoming Elizabeth”
In Becoming Elizabeth, a Queen’s Rebellious Teenage Years by Stuart Jeffries, we follow his journey as he becomes one of the world’s best historians. Stuart starts as an undergraduate studying for his degree in 18th-century history at Brunel University London. It was during this time that he first became captivated by the history of Queen Elizabeth I. This was especially inspired by a deep interest in the works of Shakespeare, who wrote many famous plays about her.
While studying history, Jeffries found that his favorite subject was not just studying the formal history of events and figures, but also the lives of ordinary people living during this period. He found that he enjoyed studying their interests and hobbies along with what they would have done for work and leisure activities.
