Elliot Page praises The Umbrella Academy for handling the trans storyline following their shift

It’s not just the amazing cast that makes The Umbrella Academy one of the best superhero movies of all time. It’s their understanding and handling of trans narrative after they transition. After they first revealed they were in a relationship with one another, there was a lot of backlash from fans who claim that it went against the original comic books’ main message. But we know these are just fads because as soon as this film is released, readers will get right back on board and be reading comics where same-sex relationships are commonplace.
“I feel like we don’t see enough same-sex relationships in comic books. So it’s nice to have a character that does not have a heteronormative narrative,” says Twitter user @Cait_Architect. “I don’t know why a film based on a comic book needs to follow its story. They don’t need to sell this film and create hype.”

The storyline of The Umbrella Academy
It is a superhero tale that follows the story of an estranged family of superheroes. How they came together to form the titular team. The series depicts the lives of seven children (six adopted, one natural) who attend the dysfunctional Spaceboy academy for space-related orphans.
Though the series is a superhero tale, the comics also feature drama and gore, much violence, as well as sexual situations. Though some might find the comic’s focus on gore repulsive, Way himself has stated that he finds it too easy to “turn on a dime and have his work be so bloody and violent” but that the more extreme aspects of his work are not what he is aiming for with The Umbrella Academy.
Ritu Arya towards Becoming a Netflix Star and Facing Criticism in “Umbrella University”
A lot of people have faced rejection from the start, but it’s important to keep fighting and chasing your dreams. By pursuing their passions, many creatives who have faced rejection are finding success on their terms and making a name for themselves. One person who has done that is Ritu Arya, whose credits include Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy as well as ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Arya began her acting career at the age of 6 when she moved from India to Melbourne, Australia. As a child, Arya was already acting, earning the title “child actress extraordinaire” for her roles in the shows H2O: Just Add Water and the 2006 film Chocolate for Breakfast. She continued acting throughout high school, including a role in The Biggest Loser alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and former Teen Mom 2 star Farrah Abraham.
