The Boys : Jensen Ackles looks superb in as a Soldier boy .

For years, people all over the world have held superheroes in high regard. Superheroes glide through our society and keep us safe, they stop crime and provide justice. They’re our saviours. But as time goes on, it becomes more apparent that not all superheroes are what they seem like on the outside. Some of them are flawed, some of them are criminals themselves, some of them abuse their powers in ways that go against everything a superhero stands for.

What is the plot of the story ?

A group of vigilantes set out to take down these corrupted superheroes who abuse their superpowers. These vigilantes are a group of street kids calling themselves the “boys” and use violent methods to get their point across. The story cuts between two main characters, Hughie and Butcher. Hughie is a young man who lives with his grandmother after his mother was killed by Homelander, the leader of the Seven, one of the largest superhero teams in America. His father is a police officer and he goes out of his way to never do anything illegal or even violent because he feels that doing so would only make him as bad as Homelander.

Who is in the cast ? What role did each character portray ?

The cast include Antony Starr , Karl Urban , Michael Cera , Olivia Thirlby , Jacob Pitts , Noah Segan and Michael Imperioli . The actor who portrays Hughie is  Oscar Isaac . The man who portrays Homelander is  Michael Imperioli . The boys are played by  Jacob Pitts Eddie Kaye Thomas and Frank Grillo. This film is full to the brim with themes, each one more important than the last. The most obvious one is corruption and power abuse, but there’s also themes of revenge and wanting to be a hero. But of course, the theme that hits you right in the face is violence. It’s not really a superhero film without gratuitous use of violence and this film takes that to the extreme. From shooting criminals with arrows to throwing innocent people off buildings, this film has it all.

Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?

The antagonist is Homelander. The motives of this character are greed and power. In the beginning of the film, he’s introduced as a superhero who’s practically perfect. He’s strong and handsome and the most powerful (and evil) character in the film. His goal is to take down the Boys because they throw off his image as a good guy and show that even he is capable of terrible things.

What are the epic scenes ?

The scenes that are described as ‘epic’ in the film would have to be the fight scenes and the death scenes. In this film, it’s hard to tell what’s a fight and what’s a kill but there are many big fights with lots of characters and explosions. There are so many explosions in this film that I lost count by the end, it was easily over 40. Other epic scenes would have to be any scene involving gore or violence. This film had some of the most brutal deaths I’ve ever seen on screen and they were all graphic and realistic.

Who is the most loved character ?

Jack from the boys is the most loved character in the film. He’s a young man who has been around since the beginning and personally knows all of the boys. Jack is one of the oldest members of The Boys and although he is one of the youngest, he still wears his heart on his sleeve. Jack would do anything for The Boys and he loves them with every fiber of his being. He cares about them more than anything and is so loyal to them that even after their deaths, he dreams about one day seeing Hughie again.

Would you recommend watching this ?

I would definitely recommend watching this film because it’s something you rarely get to see on screen. It’s so rare that you see a superhero film that actually takes itself seriously and makes you think about the world we live in and the superheroes who protect it. Thanks for reading !
