Their story is set around three New Yorkers with a particular interest in the paranormal – Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, and Winston Zeddmore. The characters find themselves drawn into various incidents involving unusual phenomena and get caught up in a battle between the forces of light and darkness.”

What is the plot of the story?

10 years after the original Ghostbusters died in separate accidents. Peter Venkman and his family of paranormal investigators feel a disturbance in the force. After another murder is committed by an unseen entity. They are pulled back into their old vocation by their newest recruit – Kristen Holtzmann. As they seek to uncover what is happening and.  Who the perpetrator might be, they discover the mystery may be connected to an ancient legend: The Greek goddess Persephone. Who once ruled over Hell. When she was kidnapped by Hades.  She was forced to roam Earth as its queen for one year every year from spring until the summer solstice. Only on her return could she regain her human form again.

Who is in the cast? What role did each character portray?

The cast includes Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver as the original Ghostbusters. Other cast members include Hannah Kuninkaala, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, John Malkovich, Milo Ventimiglia, James Franco, and Jon Bernthal as the younger generation of Ghostbusters. A pretty cool cross-generational mashup.

What are the difficulties they face?

Venkman has lost his wife and daughter in an accident. He is grieving but trying to move on. For example, he has a new girlfriend as opposed to the original trio who was single. The team is considerably younger than the originals. They take on cases they really shouldn’t and get involved in situations they don’t want to be part of. Their boss isn’t happy with how they are handling their extra workload.  Which involves things other than just protecting New York City from supernatural threats. The film is about family, loss, and also emotions. The characters start as a dysfunctional family but eventually become a close-knit team. They face how to deal with the death of a loved one. And how to cope with their mortality.

Who is the antagonist? What are its motives? 

The antagonist is a demonic force that that disguises itself as the Greek goddess Persephone. It is the series of murders that draws the gang’s attention and gets them back into action. The entity is hunting down all four of the original Ghostbusters who were cursed to return as ghosts after they died. They are all bound by a force that holds them in place, unable to pass on to the afterlife. They can only move around their old neighborhood in New York City and possess any living being for a short period. As more people are murdered by the mysterious entity, it starts to narrow down who its targets are. But at this point, it may already be too late.

What is the epic scene?

The entity kidnaps Peter’s daughter after his ex-wife passes away, afraid that he’ll be too busy moving on with his life. Kristen Holtzmann is forced to don a proton pack and weaponized uniform to fight the demon horde. Winston Zeddemore awakens from a long slumber and joins the team. The younger generation of Ghostbusters – Venkman’s family – assist in freeing and helping the original team resolve their unfinished business. Before they can move on. The final battle with Persephone involves an epic clash between her demonic minions. The Ghostbusters and also their allies vs. the NYPD. Who has been possessed by demons?

If you enjoyed the original movies, you will love the movie. It is a great tear-jerker and also shows that even though the characters may not be young anymore, their spirit of adventure and also a sense of humor are still very much alive. Thanks for reading!
