The summer changes me from a girl into a young woman and teaches me that life is filled with both good things and bad things happening at once. It’s not enough to get mad when you’re sad or happy when you’re mad; life doesn’t work like that. It’s about finding the balance between them all—the dark and the light, the emptiness, and fullness—dancing together until you’re whole again.

The plot of the story is that Belly spends her summers on Cousins Beach with her mother and three cousins, but when a new boy comes to stay with them, everything changes. It’s about a girl named Belly and how she deals with love, loss, and betrayal during the summer after her 16th birthday.
Who is in the cast? What role did each character portray?
The cast includes Gavin Casalegno, Lola Tung, Justice, and Mylene June-Ming. The roles include Belly’s best friends, Rose, Claire, and Abella; Belly’s cousins, Domino and Carmen; and the new boy, Luke. Lola Tung portrayed the role of Claire, Belly’s best friend who is a fashion blogger; Gavin played the role of Domino, Belly’s Italian half-brother and Carmen portrayed the role of Rose, her other best friend who is a straight-A student. Justice took on the role of Mylene, Belly’s cousin who is wild and spontaneous and finally Mylene June Ming portrayed the character of Abella, Belly’s cousin who loves to draw.

What are the difficulties they face?
It’s hard to try and show what Belly is going through while watching the movie since it’s hard to describe the emotions that she feels in enough words and the tone of them. In real life, Belly was going through a lot at once; she was madly in love with Luke, but at the same time, she was heartbroken when Luke told her he didn’t want to be friends anymore. During that summer, life wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows; there were times when Belly wanted to hide away from everyone and there were even times when she wished for things to go back to normal so she could cry about her broken heart on her bed alone. It all came together during that summer in Cousins Beach.
Who is the antagonist? What are its motives?
The antagonist is the new boy, Luke, who comes to Cousins Beach after getting into a fight with his girlfriend. He meets Belly and they instantly connect. Luke’s motive is to make Belly forget about his ex-girlfriend by hooking up with her in the hot tub and kissing her on the beach under the stars. The biggest scene in the story is when Belly breaks down after Luke tells her that he doesn’t want to be friends anymore. She cries on a bed in the cabin where she was left alone after everyone went to bed.
Who is the most loved character?
The most loved character in the story is Belly Schuller. She is very loved because she is strong, independent, loyal, and willing to do anything to make her friends happy. Belly’s best friends Rose and Abella loves her because they consider her family and are always there for her. Carmen loves Belly because they are close to each other and they always have a great time together. Even though Lola hates being treated like a little girl, she still loves Belly in the end because they have been best friends since elementary school. Last but not least, Gavin cares about Belly more than anything in the world and will risk his life for her no matter what happens.

Yes, I would recommend this movie to everyone because it is a great summer movie for all ages. It’s about staying true to yourself even if that means that you don’t always get what you want and being happy when things aren’t going the way you planned. Thanks for reading!
