Arachnophobia : All set to make a remake of the horror comedy film .
This short story is about the aftermath of a woman’s spider-induced death. Doctor James Atherton moves to a small town and witnesses a series of unexplainable deaths of the locals. Upon investigating, he discovers that a flock of spiders are responsible for it. As Dr Atherton is killed by said spiders, he learns the truth from one man and his wife who saw all this unfold: they’ve been spider-eaten themselves! This is basically just an excuse for a story built around some spiders; an unoriginal genre at best. The direction of the plot is a little too predictable, but luckily it’s well-paced throughout. The spiders are not imaginative and are used just as any other horror creature without any sort of personality, which is a shame considering the potential of an intelligent arachnid.
What is the plot of the story ?
A middle-aged couple arrives in the town of Lemont. One day, it is discovered that the wife has died under mysterious circumstances. The husband decides to investigate her death and finds out that she was killed by a fearsome monster from his basement . The husband finds out that all the locals had been spider-eaten and he is soon to become one of them. He also learns that a doctor lives in the town and goes to see him for help. The doctor explains that the whole town was infested by spiders which have killed a lot of residents. The only survivor is the man’s dog who has hidden in his basement with no water and food for two weeks .
Who is in the cast ? What role did each character portray?
The cast include John Goodman , Jeff Daniels , Olivia , Ruth , Richard , Hoyt Axton , Eric , Larry, Carter, Steffie and McKay . John Goodman portrayed the town’s doctor, who explains to the man that spiders have invaded his town. He also helps him kill a spider who has captured his dog. Jeff Daniels portrayed the husband, who is on a journey to find out why his wife has died. He is looking for an explanation and also wants to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Olivia portrayed the wife of the husband, who died under mysterious circumstances. The woman was killed by spiders which entered her mouth when she was sleeping at night. This led her husband on a quest to find answers to her death and those of several other locals .

What are the difficulties they face ?
The difficulties to the couple are that they are both obsessed with spiders and, in their quest to find out what happened to their loved ones, they open the door to the basement of their house and get into the trap. Once inside, they learn that there is only one exit. This is a very common problem in horror films as there is no escape route and no way out of a building or room. The woman has a breathing problem while moving up stairs. Her husband tries everything in his power to save her and find an exit but is confronted by a spider which has trapped him .The themes are certainly not new, but they are old-school. There is a puzzle box, which opens automatically once the door is open and something terrible happens inside. The subject of the spiders is also relatively new, but it is last minute.
Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?
The antagonist is a group of spiders, who have invaded the town and has killed everyone. The reason for this is never explained. The conflict is that there are several groups of people who use an object in such a way as to bring about their own destruction. This creates problems for them because they are unable to escape from a building or room . One of the major special powers is that they can bite the humans to kill them. This is a power that spiders use in their everyday life, but it has brought them nothing but death. The spiders had used their normal abilities to kill many people and could not understand why this had led them to their downfall .
Would you recommend watching this ?
Yes. I would recommend this short to you if you’re like me and totally love the genre. I think that it is a really good film and I really love the originality of the story. This is an example of a dark, yet horrific world where spiders are at the center of it. I also enjoyed the fact that it had no unnecessary filler to the story. It’s short, fast-paced and packed with enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat . Thanks for reading !
