Angelica and her fiancé Fletcher have just moved into their Upper West Side apartment building when they witness a disturbing sight on their way home from dinner: blood dripping from an open door at the top of the staircase. Believing it must be connected to one of their downstairs neighbors, they alert police officer Jarvis Jones. As the investigation leads to a dead-end, Angelica and Fletcher begin to suspect that their new building is home to an entire serial killer. But the truth might be even more explosive than they imagined.

What is the plot of the story ?

The plot revolves around Angelica and Fletcher, a couple who is moving into their first apartment. One evening after dinner, they discover a fallen corpse on the staircase of their building. Due to their young age and innocence, many things are wrong for them to report the crime. And soon it becomes clear that this incident is no coincidence. Our two protagonists are witnessing a murder in the beginning of the book. As it is too big of a deal to handle for them, they call the police immediately. The two are pretty sure that it has something to do with their neighbour family, who’s daughter is pregnant and her father is working at night.

Who is in the cast ? What role did each character portray ?

The cast include Selena Gomez , Steve Martin , Kathy Griffin , Jennifer Coolidge , and Christopher Walken . Selena Gomez portrays the role of Angelica. The role of Fletcher is portrayed by Steve Martin. It is his first attempt in acting after a long time gap. Kathy Griffin plays the role of Rita Vandelli, the real estate agent who helps Selena and Steve to find their apartment. Jennifer Coolidge played the role of Carol Vandelli, Rita’s sister. She is one of the most interesting characters because she really did not seem like a person who could be related to her sister in any way.

What are the challenges they face ?

As a result of the murder, it is clear that the murders in their building are related to their neighbours. The two characters soon realise that since the murder, there have been some deaths of other tenants as well. This becomes pretty obvious when a tenant dies by falling from his apartment. The biggest challenge for on is the case at hand. Angelica and Fletcher both are young and have not much to do with the police force, much less detective work. They are in fact no longer part of it. The climax is a major part of the story because it is where the real case has been revealed. Both Fletcher and Angelica are skeptical about the situation. They still have no concrete proof. Until they finally get it, when one of their neighbours dies by falling from his apartment. Until that point, they are not convinced that their suspicions are correct until something terrible happens to them in a way that eases the doubt even further.

Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?

The antagonist is the serial killer in their building. The motive of the serial killer is not yet revealed. It is clear that it has more than a couple of reasons to do so. According to the detectives, such murders are due to rejection, anger and jealousy. The family’s daughter is pregnant and her father works at night while his wife stays home all alone. They look like a perfect target for murder but Angelica and Fletcher seem to be wrong as they get nothing done by just spying on them. With more and more killings happening, the police gets closer to justice while Fletcher and Angelica try to escape. While they are preparing themselves to leave the building, they discover that not only their lives are in danger but also that of an innocent man who is murdered by the serial killer right in front of them.

Is it worth watching ?

I must say that it is one of the best stories I have ever read. There are many twists and turns in the plot, making it very entertaining. As we wait to see who kill who, we have to wait and imagine what will happen next. The suspense is also quite high because you do not know who will end up dead. In addition, you also have to wait for them to find out the identity of their antagonist. Thanks for reading !
