What is the story about?
Season two of the HBO series “The Righteous Gemstones”.The show follows the world-famous televangelist family. The Gemstones, who are not as righteous as they seem. Using their ministry to fulfil their selfish motives and hide shocking secrets. The Gemstones are a dysfunctional family that is anything but holy.
Who is in the cast?
The family patriarch is Eli Gemstone, played by John Goodman (“Roseanne”). Who runs the national evangelical ministry and created a media empire. His wife, Aimee-Leigh Gemstone (Jennifer Nettles), helps to run the church, while their three children are Jesse (Danny McBride), Judy (Edi Patterson) and Kelvin (Adam Devine).
What are the main events in the series?
The first season of the show saw the Gemstones face a series of scandals, including blackmail and murder. The second season was recently released on HBO Max (new episodes arrive weekly) and will follow what happens when Eli holds a competition between his children to decide who gets to take over the family business.
What are the challenges they face?
Jesse is a drug addict and has been in and out of rehab, Judy is gay and Kelvin is trying to make it as an actor. The family also has to deal with the fact that they are not particularly religious – something that sets them apart from most other members of the church.
What is the climax like?
The final episode of the season is sure to be filled with drama, as the competition between Eli’s children comes to a head. There are bound to be some twists and turns along the way, so make sure you don’t miss it!

The Righteous Gemstones has won several awards including Best Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards, Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series from SAG-AFTRA. It also received nominations for its writing staff (including writer/executive producer), directing and lead actor John Goodman.
Who is the antagonist?
The antagonist of the series is Jehu, played by Walton Goggins. He’s a self-proclaimed prophet who wants to take over the church and has his eyes on Eli’s position.
What are the themes of the series?
Themes include greed, corruption and hypocrisy. The show explores how power can be used for both good and bad as well as exploring religion through an evangelical lens where people are willing to do anything in order to get what they want without regard for others’ feelings or opinions.

What can we expect in Season Two?
In Season Two, the Gemstones will be forced to deal with the ramifications of their actions. Jehu is not someone who will just go away and they’ll have to find a way to stop him while also dealing with the internal strife that has been brewing within the family. There are also going to be a number of new characters introduced into the show’s world who might pose an even bigger threat than Jehu did.
What message does the series give?
The series is a satire on religion, the church and its hypocrisy. It shows how people are willing to do anything in order to get what they want without regard for others’ feelings or opinions.” The series also gives the message that family is important and you should do whatever you can to protect them. Even if they’re not perfect, they’re still your family and you should stick together.
Is the series worth the watch?
Yes, it is worth the watch. It’s funny and there are a lot of things happening in each episode that will keep you intrigued until the end.”
