“Painting With John” Season 2 Renewal: Know The Latest Updates
The musician, actor, and painter John Lurie is celebrated on this unscripted series in which he’s doing what he loves best. This program focuses on John’s intricate watercolor painting techniques. Reflections on what he has learned about life are shown throughout the show.
John’s new show “Painting with John” has been renewed for a second season at HBO, Variety reports.
John presents these shared art techniques with imagery of his paintings and original music, as well as commentary on tapping into viewers’ creative side. HBO Max is currently streaming the first season of Painting with John.

The second season of “Painting With John” will be written and directed by Lurie, while Adam McKay and Todd Schulman will act as executive producers. Matt Dwyer served as co-producer alongside Erik Mockus, who photographed and edited the show.
When asked about his plans for future seasons, Lurie responded that he wanted to keep people interested without knowing what they just saw. During an interview with Variety, Creator John Lurie explained how the show came to be.
“Painting is something I’ve taught myself over time, and now it’s become so much emotion for me that I don’t want to forget it, but I was going to. So we filmed me doing it to avoid any chance of forgetting how. I thought this would be a short video to just put on Instagram or my website, but it was really funny and delightful.”
The folks in our office have lost some hope, and it seemed like a nice idea to brighten up their day. Erik Mockus agreed to help film the process, but he turned out to be such a natural that filming spun into an ongoing project.
When I did this podcast with Matt Dwyer, he told me that he would send it to Adam McKay. I said that was okay, and then McKay says “I am going to make sure we get seen.” The next thing you know, my show airs on HBO by accident!
