Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse 2: Return of Peter B. Parker

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” star Jake Johnson has confirmed that he is close to finalizing a deal that would see him return as Peter Parker in the upcoming sequel.

Actor and fan-favorite Tobey Maguire recently revealed in an interview that, as it stands now, he does not know if the alternate Peter B. Parker will return for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2; however, things have taken a turn toward the more positive since Johnson hinted at possible involvement with upcoming movies.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is scheduled to be released on October 7th, 2022. Introduced in 2018’s Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse, Peter B. Parker is a very reluctant mentor to Miles Morales when he finds himself thrown into another dimension.

Directed by Rodney Rothman, Peter Ramsey, and Bob Persichetti from a screenplay by Phil Lord and Rothman, the first Into the Spider-Verse follows Miles Morales as he becomes the new Spider-Man after being bitten by a radioactive spider.

His world’s Peter Parker death motivates him to join other web slingers from various parallel universes including Gwen Stacey, Spider-Gwen (Earth 65), Tom Holland’s Avengers character Spider-Man 2099, and Marvel Studios’ Tony Stark/Iron Man of Earth X to save New York City from Wilson Fisk in some capacity.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse star Jake Johnson is hopeful to make a cameo in the sequel. “I don’t know/ I haven’t seen it! All I know is that I heard nothing for the longest time and I was very sad,” he said.

“I really loved playing Peter B. Parker in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. I would like to know what happens with Peter B. Parker’s character and his story, especially given that it was left open at the end of the first film.”

The sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is being kept under wraps, but according to Chris Miller and his fellow producer Phillip Lord, other versions of Spider-Man will be revealed by the end.

Miller also agrees that there are many potential comic book characters to be included in the film, but he would rather not say any more because a wide number have come out in the various Spider-Man universes.

It has long been a question as to who is the true “Spider-Man.” Audiences will soon get answers from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, which will reportedly focus on Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy AKA Spider-Woman.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is being directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K Thompson with a screenplay written by David Callaham, Christopher Miller, and Phil Lord. Issa Rae was recently added to the cast playing Jessica Drew AKA Spider-Woman.
