The cast of The Suicide Squad consists mainly of villains. The protagonist is Amanda Waller, a government agent who manipulates the squad into working for her to protect society from their powerful potential for evil. The other members include Harley Quinn, Deadshot (Floyd Lawton), Captain Boomerang, and Killer Croc as well as Diablo, El Diablo, Slipknot, and Katana!

We didn’t forget about The Joker either! While he doesn’t appear in the first film or The Lego Batman Movie due to Jared Leto’s late withdrawal from playing him in both these films. It was announced that Leto would be reprising his role after scheduling conflicts made it so that he couldn’t do it before now.

The team does not have a leader, but Amanda Waller assigns missions and makes all the decisions. The squad has to follow her orders or they’ll be sent back to jail!

What’s the Suicide Squad?

The Suicide Squad was created by Amanda Waller after she found out that The Joker had infiltrated Belle Reve Penitentiary. She needed soldiers to combat The Joker and his gang with no fear for her own personal safety because this would be an undercover operation where her identity could not be revealed.

The squad became well known when Rick Flag Jr., Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Plastique, Harley Quinn, El Diablo, and Enchantress fought The Joker’s gang. The group was only together for a short time before being disbanded but Amanda Waller used her newfound knowledge of how effective The Suicide Squad could be in the fight against crime, so she gathered them again to take care of other missions that weren’t going anywhere with The Justice League or The Avengers.

Characters to watch out for

The Joker – Leader, mastermind. Harley Quinn- Sidekick/companion/lover to The Joker.

Deadshot – Assassin for hire. Black Manta aka Drago Bludvist – Mercenary hired by Waller in case Batman interfered; also has his own agenda which makes him unpredictable against all other members and even Amanda Waller herself (he wants revenge on Aquaman).

Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl & Oracle (Babs) – Medical Advisor to help keep people alive during The Suicide Squad missions; also The Joker’s former psychiatrist.

Rick Flag – The leader of The Suicide squad when Rick was a Colonel in the US Military. Then became Amanda Waller’s right-hand man; with The Task Force X program. And is now leading The Deathstroke/The Expendables team for The Suicide Squad sequel (2021).

Slipknot – A member that tries to escape every time he possibly can. But always gets taken back by force or willingly returns because it’s his only real choice. If you think this guy will be your ticket out of there, forget about it!

Potential Plot: What will happen in The Suicide Squad?

Amanda Waller assembles an elite group of incarcerated super-criminals; with one common goal: break into Arkham Asylum and take down The Joker. And if they get there alive, their reward will be full pardons from prison time (seriously?). Once at Arkham, it’s up to them whether or not they want to go through with taking on The Joker or just head home…but let’s face it–you don’t break into The Joker’s house without expecting some kind of fight.
