The wait is finally over! Julie Benz will be reprising her role as Rita in Dexter Season 9. We all saw Julie’s character murdered at the end of season 8. But she has agreed to come back for one final appearance. Julie said that it was very hard to say goodbye to a character; who had been such an important part of the show; for so long. But she knew that this would be her last chance to have some closure with Rita and that it was “too perfect” not to return.

She also added: “I’m excited about being able to give fans something different.”

Dexter Season 9 Release Date Speculations

Dexter Season Nine will probably be released in November or December 2021! The show has not yet been renewed for a tenth season. Julie Benz’s return as Rita is a possible hint; that Showtime is considering ending the series with this ninth season or may even renew it for one more final year to come to an end on a high note.

In any case, Julie Benz returning as Rita means we’ll have answers and closure from her storyline. If Dexter does get cancelled next summer. And they want to wrap up all of its loose ends; before making their decision about what finally happens.

We would love Julie back too. Because she was such an important part of our favourite TV show; so let’s hope there is some good news coming soon and Dexter gets another season.

While Julie Benz returning as Rita is not in any way confirmation of a Dexter season nine renewal, it’s an encouraging sign that Showtime might be considering one more final year to come to an end on a high note.

Julie was an important part of our favourite TV show, so let’s hope there is some good news coming soon and Dexter gets another season. The ninth season will be its last and we can’t wait to see how it all turns out! Julie’s character was killed off in the seventh season but now she’ll be returning for a guest appearance. It goes without saying that Julie has been confirmed on the show, with production set to resume this fall. There will only be 12 episodes instead of 16 due to the shorter filming schedule which means next year’s instalment should wrap up Dexter nicely before ending its storyline too soon.

It was announced at Comic-Con International: San Diego, on June 20th during a panel with Showtime president David Nevins, stars Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan), Jennifer Carpenter (Debra Morgan) and Julie Benz (Rita Bennett). Joining them were “Dexter” writers/executive producers Sara Colleton and Scott Buck.

Dexter is an American television drama series created by Jeff Lindsay for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. It is based on the book Darkly Dreaming Dexter, a novel from 1996 of the same name written by Jeff Lindsay about his own reflections as someone who has imagined and carries out murders in his head. The show originally aired on Showtime between October 2006 to September 2013; then it moved onto sister channel CBS airing one season until December 2013 with two more seasons after that before concluding its run on November 22nd 2015.

The show centres around Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a blood-spatter analyst specializing in serial killers, living in Miami during the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic when contact with blood causes death or other severe consequences.
