Blacula Wakes Up Again with MGM Reboot , currently under development

Balcula Reboot

The iconic Blacula is back in the limelight with a new reboot coming to theaters. After being dormant for 40 years, MGM has announced that they will be rebooting the classic film about an African prince who becomes a vampire and terrorizes Victorian London. The original movie came out in 1972 and was considered controversial because of its portrayal of race relations at the time. This remake, however, promises to bring more diversity into the story as well as some updated special effects so that it can stand on its own two legs decades into our future.

What is Blacula?

Blacula is a 1972 American horror film directed by William Crain. It stars William Smith as the title character, an 18th-century African prince named Mamuwalde who was turned into a vampire and terrorized seventeenth-century Transylvania. The screenplay was written by Raymond Koenig III and Richard Wenk.

In this reboot, the Prince is now a slave in Haiti during its revolution (where he will have more opportunities to be developed).
