The plot of the show

begins when Ted Lasso – who is a third-string soccer player from the fictional country of Uzbekistan and has been playing for Glasgow Celtic but recently got cut from the team due to injury — goes on vacation in America with his family. He accidentally gets mistaken for an international coach.
