It’s been a long time coming, but Top Gun: Maverick finally has an official release date! The film is set to come out in 2021. However, there have recently been reports that the movie may be delayed due to the director being fired from the production. In addition, it looks like Val Kilmer won’t be returning for this instalment of Top Gun after all. Here are updates about castings and plot news!

Release Date Statements for the movie:

The sequel was originally set for release on July 12, 2019, before it was hit with a delay of a whole year. Things were looking up, though, after that date was moved forward slightly to June 24, 2020, in the US and July 17, 2020, in the UK.

However, the sequel was then hit with another delay to December 23, 2020, and that wasn’t the end of it as Paramount then pushed the sequel back to July 2, 2021, only for it to be delayed again to November 19, 2021.

Tom Cruise responded to the initial delay with a message to fans: “I know many of you have waited 34 years. Unfortunately, it will be a little longer.” Filming on the sequel took place from May 2018 to June 2019.
