What are people saying about it?

Critics were rather mixed with reviews praising director Stephen Sommers’ visual effects work while criticizing his overuse of CGI and lackluster storytelling skills that have become more prevalent since he last directed a film in 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Luke Y Thompson from “CinemaBlend” gave Snake Eyes three stars out of five and remarked that it was “a solid summer popcorn flick” with the special effects comparable to a much higher budget film. Still, he also lamented how Sommers’ storytelling skills have drastically declined since his last directorial work in 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Snake eyes release date:

Snake Eyes was originally meant to premiere on March 27, 2020, but it was delayed after the initial wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. A series of additional delays pushed the film’s intended launch through the year and eventually into 2021. Currently, Snake Eyes is scheduled to release in theaters on July 23, 2021 – a date that seems likely to hold. It’s also likely that the movie will become available for streaming on Paramount+ 45 days after its theatrical release, as that has been the official model for many of Paramount’s major films since launching the streaming platform. That would make Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins available for streaming in early September.

Review:

The trailer for the movie, which is a prequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, has not yet been released, but it’s sure to be one of the most-anticipated releases this year when Paramount goes live with their first wave in 2020.
