The show has many memorable moments from Grey’s Anatomy Season 17:
Some of the most memorable storylines in Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 were Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) and Callie Torres’ (Sara Ramirez) relationship, especially after they get married during the season 15 finale “Don’t Stand So Close to Me.” In addition, Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh)’s departure from Seattle Grace Hospital after she is denied a fellowship position at Mayo Clinic due to her terminal cancer diagnosis; Derek Shepherd’s death in “How Insensitive”; Alex Karev’s (Justin Chambers) shooting by Gary Clark Jr.; Jackson Avery coming out as gay while attending therapy sessions with his mother Susan Ross-Avery (played by Chandra Wilson); and Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) relationship with Nathan Riggs.
ut not before the end of season 15, Cristina Yang had decided to leave Seattle Grace Hospital to pursue a fellowship in New York. At first, she was turned down for the position because her cancer is terminal; however, after some convincing from Dr. Webber that he needs her as much as she needs him, Mayo Clinic agrees to hire her. She leaves at the end of Season 16 but not before giving Alex Karev another chance.
We’ve had a lot happen this season, and we’re not even halfway through! At the beginning of the episode, “I Want You With Me,” Cristina Yang says goodbye to her friends as she is leaving for New York due to her cancer diagnosis. Meredith Grey also has trouble saying goodbye – especially with Alex Karev, who she thinks might be having an affair. She decides that they should break up, but he doesn’t want it, so they agree on being just friends instead. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) still wants them back together, though, and tries his best to win her over one last time before she leaves town for good.
A few of the other interesting moments from Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 Episode 23 include Bailey having to take care of a patient who is not only her own age but also in her hometown, Teddy giving birth and getting married after being reluctantly engaged for a while, and Denny Duquette Jr. returning as Meredith Grey’s imaginary friend!
