The Courier Daily 1

Disney announced that Aladdin 2 is happening, and we can’t wait to see all the new adventures! The release date for Aladdin 2 has not been officially confirmed, but there are plenty of speculations out there. In this article, we will talk about what we know so far about Aladdin 2 and what might happen in the plot!

Aladdin 2 Official Release Date:

Since Aladdin 2 is early in its development, the project does not yet have an official release date. However, we can make an educated guess; as to when the film might land; in theatres by taking a look at Aladdin’s road; to the big screen.

Disney announced; that the movie; was in production in October 2016 (via Deadline); at that time, the screenplay was already complete, and Ritchie had been hired to direct. It would be just over two and a half years, from this point, before Aladdin; landed in theatres, and we think that the time between Aladdin 2’s announcement and its release; will be pretty close to that time frame for a couple of reasons.

First, even though the sequel doesn’t have a script or director locked in (not officially, anyway), the picture entered development well before the announcement; was made. Back in August 2019, Dan Lin — a producer; on the first film — told Syfy Wire; that Disney brass; was actively kicking; around ideas; for the sequel. “We’re looking at ‘[what’s] the best way to go with these characters,” Lin said at that time. “The audience; the response has really touched us; in thinking about where we can go; with these stories, and we feel like these characters have more adventures in store.”

Will the original cast be returning for Aladdin 2 Live-Action Remake?

Yes! Aladdin stars Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, and Marwan Kenzari will be reprising their roles as Aladdin, Jasmine, and Jafar, respectively. Will Smith is confirmed to be playing the Genie in Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin. The studio announced on 18 February 2019 that he’ll star opposite Massoud in a “witty” take on the role originally made famous by Robin Williams in 1992’s animated original (Smith was already set to voice one of the genies sidekicks). In July 2018, it was reported that Guy Ritchie might not direct due to other commitments but would still produce and handle duties such as casting. It was then later revealed that Wadiya Hamid had been hired to direct Aladdin.

Will Aladdin 2 Live-Action Remake have the same plotline and spin-offs as the original movie?

Yes, Aladdin’s adventures will be revisited in the live-action adaptation. Fans can expect to see familiar characters and plot points that have been a part of Disney’s animated film for decades. Though there are no details yet on what or who they’ll meet along the way, the new movie is likely to include Aladdin’s hometown Agrabah, Princess Jasmine, and her father Sultan, as well as Jafar.

The plot of a live-action movie is different from the original animated film. They are just using the same characters and general storey ideas as the first adaptation, but there’s no telling what will happen in this new version! The Aladdin franchise has been around for decades, so it would make sense to include these memorable moments from previous films in some way or another.

In the original Aladdin, Jasmine was supposed to marry a prince from another land before meeting Aladdin, but it seems there will be no mention of that happening this time around. The plot is still being kept under wraps, with Disney not confirming many details about the movie yet!

What we know about Aladdin so far:

There was speculation that Guy Ritchie might not direct due to other commitments, but Wadiya Hamid had been hired to direct Aladdin. Though there were rumours he wouldn’t be available because of his commitment with Disney+ Series ‘Lion King,’ sources say they’re simply producing and directing casting, which makes us suspect he’ll be involved in some way.

The only major update we know for sure so far is that Will Smith won’t be playing Genie, and instead, he’s starring as one of Jafar’s sidekicks – Iago. Mena Massoud had been cast to play Aladdin, Naomi Scott, who starred as Princess Jasmine in ‘Power Rangers’ (2017), would portray her character too. Nasim Pedrad has also joined the cast to play Aladdin’s new love interest.
