What will be in the Search party Season 5?

SEASON five of Search Party is going to be EPIC – we’re about to find out if Chantal is alive or not, who killed Drew’s dad, and whether Grant was actually innocent. But before we get into this week’s review let me remind you that Season Four ended on a BIG cliffhanger when they found Claire/Jenna in Jenna’s mom’s house (aka Adele). What happened? Is she dead? Who are her REAL parents?? We’ll finally have answers to these questions soon enough but I’m getting ahead of myself.

In the first episode (S05E01) we get a refresher on what happened in Season Four, which is basically all about Drew and his dad’s murder by some unknown person – who remains UNKNOWN to this day. Along comes Chantal back from the dead with an IDEA: she wants to use her own DNA at Jenna’s mom’s house so they can find out if there was blood left behind that matches up with hers or not. That way Adele will know for sure it’s really her daughter and maybe tell them something important like WHO killed Drew? But here’s where things start getting tricky…

Alexandra Dern (“The Mystery Woman”) is maybe Jenna’s mom. We’ll see! But probably not for long because she dies in the first episode of season five. RIP Alexandra Dern and her character… we barely knew yet!

When will Search Party Season 5 be released?

At this point, we can only speculate as to when Search Party will be back. One thing is for sure, though, and that’s that fans of the series—particularly ones who’ve been watching it since it first aired on TBS in 2016 and 2017, and then had to wait two and a half years for Season 3 to arrive on HBO Max—know how to exercise patience. Thankfully, we probably won’t have to wait that long for Season 5.

Since the show was renewed in early 2021, there’s been no word on its production schedule. Right now, the writers are likely busy at work and could probably wrap up in the coming months. The showrunners will have to wait for Ali Shawkat to finish filming on one of her buzzy projects before they can resume filming, though; she’s taking on one of the main roles in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming Lucille Ball biopic Being the Ricardos, playing Ball’s collaborator and writer from the I Love Lucy series, Madelyn Pugh. That movie is filming throughout spring 2021, so it’s possible that if pre-production on Search Party ends in the summer, they could start shooting towards the latter half of the year. If that timeline were to work out, new episodes could arrive sometime in early 2022.

What can you expect from season 5?

The Season four finale of Search Party left fans with a lot to think about. The gang went on their trip, but quickly found themselves in trouble when they were mistaken for terrorists and put into the American prison system. They managed to escape after some derring-do from Dory (Alia Shawkat) who was able to get them out by pretending she had cancer and needed treatment abroad

But what can you expect next season?

One definite thing is that there will be fewer episodes than usual: just six instead of ten. That means we’re going to see more time devoted per episode, which could make it even more intense than ever before!
