Netflix Release Date for “Godzilla Singular Point”:
An English-subtitled trailer for Godzilla: Singular Point has been released via the official Netflix Anime YouTube account, giving an action-packed glimpse at the adventures to come and confirming a U.S. release in June. The story looks wild, to say the least, with several robotic suits and vehicles (including the redesigned Jet Jaguar), references to seeing the future, and lots of stylish kaiju fights. Several new monsters appear alongside the old ones, and the trailer’s allusions to a global catastrophe foreshadow some significant battles to come. And of course, Godzilla himself appears, delivering his signature roar and a blast of atomic fire breath.
Plot Details for Godzilla Singular Point Anime:
The first episode will reportedly be an adaptation of the original 1954 film. In it, a baby Godzilla emerges from its mother’s egg at a point in history when Earth has been under attack by other monsters like Mothra and Rodan. He is found and raised by humans before being discovered again as he matures to adulthood, rampaging across Japan and inadvertently proving his existence to humanity. King Kong joins him in Tokyo during that time period.
In total, there are five episodes planned featuring many different incarnations of Godzilla (including Mechagodzilla), each with its own storyline based on films such as “Godzilla vs. Biollante” and “Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.”
The Godzilla Singular Point anime will be a series of six or seven 30-minute episodes. It is animated by Polygon Pictures, the company that created Knights of Sidonia and Ajin: Demi-Human. The show’s opening theme song will reportedly be “Godzilla!” sung in English by one of Japan’s most famous rock bands, Electric Light Orchestra (or ELO).
Latest Updates about the anime:
The show features a female protagonist named Sachi, who has been hailed as Japan’s first black heroine.
Many of the iconic monsters from Toho Co.’s library have appeared on-screen throughout Godzilla Singular Point anime so far. Godzilla himself only appears briefly at the end of episode 12 and will return for more episodes later this year. Fans speculate that Episode 20 might be the opening to an anticipated movie spinoff where King Ghidorah battles it out with Mothra, Rodan, Anguirus, and Kumonga!
Godzilla Singular Point anime is a co-production between Toho and Netflix, with the latter holding streaming rights for most of Asia outside Japan.
