And while Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler) managed to free him, Archer’s freedom was short-lived when he paid a visit to his mother in the hospital–where she apparently had been for quite some time.

“Mother?” Archer said tentatively as he entered her room. “You’re not dead!”

“I’ve never felt better,” Malory replied with a smile that gave Archer little hope that there would actually be any good news forthcoming from this meeting. The next few moments confirmed it: Pam (Amber Nash), who’d tracked down his whereabouts and followed him inside the building, fired two shots at Archer before Lana could disarm her partner/lover and render both of them unconscious again; after waking up handcuffed to an IV stand beside his studio for the show.
