Is Archer cancelled?
There is some bad news for Archer fans out there. On March 23rd, 2021, it was announced that FX had renewed the show for a 12th and final season of 13 episodes. This doesn’t mean that this will be the end, though- as renewal does not imply air date or even production! In fact, many shows are still airing new seasons while have been renewed for several years (The Simpsons being one example). Archer has yet to release any information on its future, so don’t worry just yet!
Latest Updates:
The animated show Archer aired on the FXX network has been renewed for a 12th season, but this doesn’t mean it will air. There are recent reports of the series being in jeopardy following contract negotiations between actors and FX executives. The cast is currently asking for higher pay per episode than what was agreed upon in their original contracts to continue filming new content beyond Season 11.
FX Network president John Landgraf gave an official statement about the future of Archer: “It’s entirely possible that the current hiatus could extend into next year.” But he also added they hadn’t made any decisions yet regarding whether or not a renewal would be picked up past Season 12, which means there might still be hope!
Archer Season 12 Release Date Speculations:
Archer is speculated; to return on FXX and Hulu in 2021. Although an exact date for the premiere; of season 12 has yet to be announced. Episodes of Archer season 11; debuted on FXX on Wednesdays. And appeared on Hulu on Thursdays. A successful pattern; that seems likely to continue next year. It’s possible the coronavirus; could impact the air date of season 12, with the premiere of season 11 having been pushed back nine months because of the COVID-19 outbreak. As Hollywood gets back on track, however, Archer’s animated format could show a leg up; on comedies that have to bring in large casts and crews; to film outside a sound studio.
Is Archer Season 12 worth watching?
To answer this question, I would say that Archer Season 12; is worth watching because the show’s format makes it easier to work around disease outbreaks. If there was another deadly virus outbreak in Hollywood, then Archer could keep going for years since people won’t have to go outside and film together as they do on other shows.
Archer Season 12 Story Details:
Archer season 11 ended with Sterling Archer (voiced by H Jon Benjamin) being detained inside an ISIS prison on charges he framed Cyril Figgis as the head of HR–although this time around, at least much more focus seems to have been placed on his drinking problem than any other addiction we’re aware of. And while Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler) managed to free him, Archer’s freedom was short-lived when he paid a visit to his mother in the hospital–where she apparently had been for quite some time.
“Mother?” Archer said tentatively as he entered her room. “You’re not dead!”
“I’ve never felt better,” Malory replied with a smile that gave Archer little hope that there would actually be any good news forthcoming from this meeting. The next few moments confirmed it: Pam (Amber Nash), who’d tracked down his whereabouts and followed him inside the building, fired two shots at Archer before Lana could disarm her partner/lover and render both of them unconscious again; after waking up handcuffed to an IV stand beside his studio for the show. Archer season 11 might have been cancelled because of that too, but we don’t know when it will come back yet.
Conclusion:
The media writes a lot of articles about Archer season 11, but still, they don’t have an idea when the show will return. There are rumours that Archer could come back in 2021 on FXX and Hulu, but there is no official date yet for release. Hollywood has been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, so it might be delayed again to 2022.
It’s possible that because Archer is animated, it may not need as many people to film outside their sound studio. Hopefully, more information comes soon!
