Trese Season 1: Funny And Clever Filipino-Inspired Fantasy Series
The first season of the Filipino-inspired, dark fantasy web series Trese has just wrapped up, and it’s been a blast. The show is about Alexandra Trese, a detective who deals with crimes involving supernatural creatures like aswangs, manananggals, and yanks. She does this while also using her wit to deal with cases that have nothing to do with the occult.
You might be asking yourself why you should watch this series? Here are three reasons:
1) It’s hilarious! There are plenty of jokes in each episode that will make you laugh out loud, even if you’re not familiar with Filipino culture or humor
2) The mysteries are cleverly written and well thought out; you’ll be guessing until the end and, lastly,
3)The female protagonist is a strong character who defeats villains without needing to rely on her male counterpart.
If you’re looking for an entertaining series that doesn’t take itself too seriously and has plenty of Filipino cultural influences, then Trese Season One should definitely be on your watch list!
About the season:
This season of the show follows Alexandra’s (Alex) adventures as she helps those in need while also solving supernatural crimes using wit and intellect alone. She does this all while balancing being a single mother to one precocious daughter named Clarissa or Tessa. This season we see Alex demonstrating how tough she can be even when faced with adversity from those she loves.
This season includes a gothic horror story, the world of video games in their own right, and Filipino culture influences that will leave you wanting more!

This Season One is an entertaining series with plenty of female empowerment moments to enjoy. With humor and wit mixed together for each episode, this show leaves me excited for what’s coming next! I can’t wait until Trese returns so we can see Alex take on yet another problem with her signature style. If you’re not watching already, then now would be the perfect time to start catching up before everyone else does too!
