The 100 Prequel Series Is Still Alive At The CW! Updates, Spin-offs and Plot Details!
It’s been a long time since The 100 aired its last episode. But fear not, because the show is coming back. The CW has announced developing a spinoff for the series with original creators Jason Rothenberg and Leslie Morgenstern.
Official Announcements:
The CW Network has announced a spinoff for the popular series The 100. The new project will pick up six months; after Praimfaya and follow events on Earth; in real-time as well as in space. With so many questions left unanswered, we can’t wait to see what happens next!
“The end of our show doesn’t mean that it’s over,” Rothenberg said at Deadline Hollywood’s Emmy Contenders event, according to Variety. “It means there are other stories to tell.” -“We were always thinking about how many stories could be told beyond season five (of The 100),” he continued. It was then when they realized that one way to continue telling their story would be with a spinoff
The success of this show is apparent by the number of fans who have come back to watch not only seasons one through three but also season four which was just released last week. It’s no surprise that the show creators are excited about continuing with it or even producing more shows based on other books/series from Kass Morgan.
Jason Rothenberg (executive producer) mentions wanting to create “more stories” while at a recent event, according to Variety.
The 100 is Renewed for Season 2:
The 100 has been renewed for seasons five and six of the show, expected to be released in 2019 on CW. “It means there are other stories to tell.” “We were always thinking about how many stories could be told beyond season five (of The 100),” he continued. When they realized that one way to continue telling their story would be with a spinoff.
Jason Rothenberg (executive producer) mentions wanting to create “more stories” while at a recent event, according to Variety. He also says he hopes that seasons seven and eight will air in 2021 or 2022, but this can’t be confirmed.
The 100 Prequel Series:
The 100 is a CW show that aired in 2016 and has since been renewed for season five. The series was created by Jason Rothenberg, who also served as the executive producer of the show with Leslie Morgenstein.
The prequel spinoff will be set 97 years before the events of The 100 on planet Earth!
It’s not yet confirmed if anyone from The 100 cast will show up on this new project. They are still currently filming Season six, which is expected to air, so they might have other priorities at hand like their families or jobs outside Hollywood.
Although most fans think it would make sense if Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) showed up in some way because she may want to find the rest of her friends.
Spinoff:
The series will take place 97 years before The 100 and follows a completely new set of characters on Earth, but the show’s creator says there are some connections.
“It is not part of our current timeline,” Jason Rothenberg said at San Diego Comic-Con about where this spinoff falls within The CW’s lineup. “But it shares a lot with [the original] one.” He also added that they’re still figuring out what kind of tone to go for because we don’t know how long this prequel will be or who any cast members might be yet!

It takes place 97 years after nuclear war upends our planet, as only one group (the Sky People) managed to survive; past ground zero by living aboard; various space stations orbiting Earth; known as ‘spaceships.’ The show’s main characters, Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake, are sent down to Earth; in a desperate attempt to find some kind of solution; for the Ark residents; who have been living without any fresh air or water; for over two centuries.
